LOUISVILLE, Ky. WDRB writes — One person was killed and two other people were injured in a crash involving a semi and a minivan in Nelson County early Tuesday.
Officials say it happened around 7 a.m. That’s when a minivan with three people inside was heading eastbound on the Bluegrass Parkway. The driver apparently lost control, flipping the van multiple times. The minivan crossed over the median and into oncoming traffic in the westbound lanes, slamming into a semi truck.
Two people in the minivan — the driver and a male passenger, were ejected from the vehicle. The male passenger died from his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger, identified as 30-year-old Jessica Clowers from Bowling Green, was flown to University Hospital in Louisville.
According to the Jefferson County Coroners Office, Clowers passed away a few days after the crash at 12:10 p.m. Saturday.
The male passenger’s identity has not yet been released.
The driver of the semi was also hospitalized with unknown injuries,.
Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
Two other cars that were both traveling eastbound also crashed around 10:30 a.m. near the fatal collision as police were clearing the scene but we’re told the drivers involved in that crash appear to be OK.
One lane in each direction of Bluegrass Parkway was shut down until around 3 p.m. while crews worked to clear the scene.
