Thompson, a senior partner at our firm, has earned the privilege of being inducted into the Kentucky Trial Court Review 2020 Hall of Fame due to his extensive work and success as a plaintiff lawyer.
Founded in 1997, the Kentucky Trial Court Review is a monthly publication that covers civil jury verdicts, with a special focus on torts. The publication acknowledged Attorney Thompson’s outstanding legal work in its very first edition in 1998. At the time, he had recently brought a birth injury case to a favorable resolution worth more than $20 million.
In 2002, Attorney Thompson surpassed his previous achievement with a brain injury case that culminated in a recovery of more than $27 million for the plaintiff. Later, in 2014, he secured over $18 million for a Barren County client who also sustained a traumatic injury to the brain. These are just a few of Attorney Thompson’s multi-million-dollar case results.

Since Attorney Thompson began his legal career as a Louisville personal injury attorney more than 30 years ago, his work as has won him many accolades from an abundance of industry organizations.
In 2021, he was ranked the number 1 ranking attorney in Kentucky by Super Lawyers magazine. He has been listed in every single edition of Super Lawyers®, part of Thomson Reuters, from 2007 to 2021. The 2021 edition marked his 15th year as an honoree, and as one of the highest-scoring candidates, he earned a spot in Top 50: 2021 Kentucky Super Lawyers® and the No. 1 spot in Top 10: 2021 Kentucky Super Lawyers®. He has been named in the Top 10 lists for Kentucky previously in 2008, 2010 to 2012, 2016, 2017, and 2020. As for the Top 50 list, he has appeared in it since 2007.
The year 2007 was truly a golden year for Attorney Thompson as he was also first recognized by The Best Lawyers in America©, presented by Best Lawyers®, that year. He continues to earn selection to this list on an annual basis. Again in 2007, Attorney Thompson obtained membership to The Inner Circle of Advocates, an invitation-only group composed of no more than 100 United States plaintiff’s attorneys who have demonstrated “excellent character and integrity which the National Law Journal has called, “A fraternity of superstar personal injury litigators.”
In addition, Attorney Thompson is a member of the Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys (now the Kentucky Justice Association) where he has served as the president, vice president, and on the board of directors. He has earned so much recognition from awards organizations and is so involved in the legal community because of the genuine passion he has for the law and the ways in which it allows him to help people.
