Best Lawyers is one of the oldest peer review publications in the legal field and, as such, is widely regarded as one of the most trusted, esteemed rating organizations. Lawyers are evaluated across more than 140 practice areas throughout 77 countries around the world, all in an effort to identify the most distinguished legal professionals in any given area.
Attorneys must first be nominated by their peers, clients, or colleagues to be considered for Best Lawyers, at which point nominees are subject to extensive peer reviews. Peer reviews are conducted by current Best Lawyer listees and are based on the caliber of the nominees’ work. Peer reviewers are also asked to vote for nominees based on their willingness to refer their own clients to those nominees. Based on those ratings, the remaining nominees are subject to eligibility checks. Attorneys are evaluated based on reviews from their staff members, their standing with their local bar, and their association with other similar organizations and committees.
