Bio

Jack Conway, former Attorney General of Kentucky and executive committee member of the National Association of Attorneys General, is a partner in Dolt, Thompson, Shepherd & Conway, PSC. He has a record of obtaining multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements in private practice and as a public advocate. Mr. Conway’s experience, stature, and knowledge add essential capabilities to clients seeking trial work, policy advocacy, regulatory compliance, and litigation strategies across the country.

The former two-term Attorney General of Kentucky, Mr. Conway was recognized as a national leader among Attorneys General for standing up to large corporate, banking, and pharmaceutical companies. He brought his perspective and success as a trial attorney to the role of Attorney General, collecting more than a half-billion dollars for the state – far more than any previous occupant of the office. These collections included tens of millions of dollars against pharmaceutical companies that misrepresented the costs of drugs to the Kentucky Medicaid program.

Jack’s Record as Attorney General

Mr. Conway fought to protect consumers by leading a national working group of 37 state Attorneys General reviewing for-profit colleges. He helped secure a $25 billion mortgage settlement for consumers. In addition, he recovered $23 million for the Kentucky Retirement System from Bank of America and secured a $32 million settlement with two pharmaceutical companies to expand drug treatment in Kentucky.

Prior to his election, Mr. Conway represented those who had been injured or lost a loved one in court against those who had wronged them. He practiced with his father, noted trial attorney F. Thomas Conway, in the law firm of Conway & Conway.

Among many successful outcomes, Mr. Conway obtained a trial verdict in excess of nine million dollars against a Louisville hospital in a medical negligence case. He also obtained multimillion-dollar settlements in: a premises liability case involving a fatal DUI accident; a railroad accident settlement against a major rail carrier for a fatal electrocution; and a medical negligence settlement against a doctor and hospital in Jefferson County, Kentucky, for cerebral palsy caused by the failure to timely perform a cesarean section.

Today, he uses his successes as a trial attorney and Attorney General to represent the rights of the injured in court and on advising on issues before the state Attorney General. Mr. Conway’s unique experience as both a Louisville personal injury attorney and a former Attorney General uniquely positions Dolt, Thompson, Shepherd & Conway, PSC to serve all types of clients, whether they are an individual claim for negligence – or a large number of clients in mass tort cases.
